NATURE OF SATAN
1. What is Satan?
The being who tempts and accuses those who are righteous.
John 8:44 - Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Revelation 12:7-10 - And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, :8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. :9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. :10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Revelation 20:2 - And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
2 Corinthians 11:14 & 15 - And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. :15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
Acts 13:10 - And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
Job 1:6-12 -Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them. :7 And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. :8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? :9 Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? :10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. :11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. :12 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.
Job 2:1-7 - Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord. :2 And the Lord said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. :3 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. :4 And Satan answered the Lord, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. :5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. :6 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life. :7 So went Satan forth from the presence of the Lord, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
1 John 3:8,10 - He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. :10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
Ephesians 2:2 - Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
2. What, if any, are the activities of Satan?
Temptation, deception, destruction of the hope of life, etc.
Genesis 3:1-4 - Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? :2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: :3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. :4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
2 Corinthians 11:3 - But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Zechariah 3:1, 2 - And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. :2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
Jude 9 -Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
Psalms 109:6 - Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.
Matthew 4:1 - The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
1 Peter 5:8, 9 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: :9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Matthew 13:38, 39 - The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; :39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
Hebrews 2:14 - Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Revelation 20:10 - And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
2 Thessalonians 2:9 & 10 - Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, :10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
3. State the origin of Satan.
No origin for him is given in the Scriptures.
