There have been many different attempts to explain the mystery of this universe. It is blatantly obvious, to any person with sight, hearing, smell, touch and the ability to reason, that this is an awesome "ecosystem" we live in. Every sentient being reaches a state of awareness that causes them to ponder: "Where am I?" and "Why am I here?" The Bible points this out in a number of passages, but none of them so clear as Rom 1:18-25:
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks; but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, that their bodies might be dishonored among them.
25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. (NAS)
God has
provided astounding evidence of Himself in His Creation. Notice we did not say
proof, but evidence. It is evident that God is not intending to prove His
existence to Man. But He sure has given us a tremendous weight of evidence.
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the
heaven and the earth.
Wouldn't it be different if mankind would accept this simple statement? Think of all the wasted lives. People who have dedicated themselves to finding the origin of the Universe. When all along, the simple truth was available in the 1st verse of the Bible.
Even among those who accept this statement, there is much debate about how to interpret the rest of the account. Some of the issues are as follows:
How long did it take God to create the universe?
How long is a "Day"?
Is there any significance to the order of the Creation?
